FRACULA Treatment

FRACULA Therapy (Fractional CO2 Laser + PRP Combined Protocol)

The name FRACULA is an acronym referring to the combination of fractional CO2 laser treatment and PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma), commonly known as “Dracula therapy”.
The protocol combines two complementary methods.
Fractional CO2 laser
It creates controlled micro-ablation in the skin, which activates collagen production and structural skin renewal.
PRP (autologous plasma prepared from the patient’s own blood, rich in growth factors)
It supports healing processes, helps cellular regeneration and optimises the tissue response.

Why can FRACULA™ offer a more complex approach compared with laser treatment alone?
Fractional CO2 laser is an effective collagen-induction procedure on its own.
However, by adding PRP, regeneration receives biological support.

Benefits of the combination:

  • the regeneration process triggered by the laser receives targeted growth-factor support,
  • the healing process may be more physiological and harmonious,
  • the tissue response may result in more intensive and better-organised collagen remodelling,
  • in certain cases, the post-treatment period may become more comfortable,
  • a more complex improvement in skin quality can be achieved (in terms of structure, tone and texture)

The combined protocol is especially recommended for more mature, thinner skin, scarred or structurally damaged skin, and during repeated maintenance-type treatments.

Important information!

  • Fractional CO2 laser is a procedure involving controlled ablation.
Depending on individual factors, regeneration time is usually 5–10 days, during which redness, oedema and peeling may occur.
  • The FRACULA protocol is not a single “rejuvenating procedure”, but a structural skin-renewal process. Optimal results are often achieved as a course of treatments.

At our clinic, the FRACULA protocol is performed by our laser specialist with extensive experience in fractional CO2 laser treatments, using controlled parameters and a personalised treatment plan.

What is FRACULA Treatment?

FRACULA therapy is a combined, two-step protocol that brings together fractional CO2 laser treatment and PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma).

In the first step, the fractional CO2 laser creates controlled microthermal treatment columns in the superficial and deeper layers of the skin. This activates natural regeneration processes and stimulates collagen production.

The aim of the treatment is to improve the structure of the skin, refine its texture and gradually enhance overall skin quality.

In the second step—the PRP treatment—plasma rich in growth factors, prepared from the patient’s own blood, is applied to the treated area. PRP complements the regeneration processes stimulated by the laser with biological support.

The purpose of the combined protocol is to support structural skin renewal through a natural, autologous (own-material-based) procedure.

The treatment is not a filler-based intervention, but a skin-quality-improving procedure based on collagen induction.

Who is it recommended for?

The FRACULA protocol may be a suitable choice for those who would like structural improvement in skin quality without a filler-based approach.

The treatment can be used for both women and men on the face, neck, décolletage and backs of the hands, as well as on body areas where structural skin-quality improvement is desired.

With the appropriate skin condition and treatment plan, the protocol may contribute to an improvement in the appearance of stretch marks (skin stretching related to pregnancy or weight fluctuation), a more refined skin structure and a more even texture.

The optimal treatment plan is always determined based on a personal consultation and skin assessment. The number of required treatments depends on individual characteristics and goals.

Who is FRACULA Treatment not recommended for?

Although the FRACULA (fractional CO2 laser + PRP) protocol can be used in a wide range of cases, it is not recommended in certain conditions, or postponing the treatment may be justified.

The possibility of performing the treatment is always determined by our laser specialist during an individual consultation, taking into account your current health status and skin parameters.

In the following cases, the treatment cannot be performed or requires individual assessment:

  • during pregnancy and breastfeeding,
  • in the presence of an acute inflammatory, infectious or febrile condition,
  • in case of active skin inflammation, herpes or an open wound in the treatment area,
  • after recent sun exposure, solarium use or in case of active tanning,
  • for darker skin types, individual assessment is required due to the increased risk of pigmentation,
  • in the presence of autoimmune diseases, blood-clotting disorders or internal medical conditions affecting wound healing,
  • in case of a tendency to abnormal scarring (keloid),
  • while taking photosensitising medications, certain antibiotics or isotretinoin-containing preparations,
  • in the presence of active cancer, the treatment cannot be performed

Before the treatment

Before starting the FRACULA treatment, our laser specialist provides detailed verbal and written information, explains the course of the treatment, the expected skin reactions and the aftercare protocol, and ensures the conditions necessary for an informed decision.

After the consultation, the skin surface to be treated is thoroughly cleansed, followed in every case by the application of a topical anaesthetic cream containing lidocaine. In case of lidocaine sensitivity, an individually selected alternative anaesthetic may be used. Once the anaesthetic effect has developed, the treated area is prepared and disinfected.

During fractional CO2 laser treatment, a sensation of heat, burning or stinging may occur. Its intensity varies from person to person and depends on individual pain tolerance as well as the parameters used. The purpose of anaesthesia is to reduce discomfort; however, complete painlessness cannot be guaranteed.

For PRP treatment, venous blood is drawn before the procedure. From the collected blood, plasma rich in growth factors is prepared using a special process, and this is applied to the treated area after the laser treatment.

The laser settings and the parameters of the combined protocol are always determined with primary consideration for individual skin parameters, the treatment goal and safety aspects. Our laser specialist determines the treatment settings based on professional judgement.

How FRACULA Treatment Works

After thorough disinfection of the treatment area, fractional CO2 laser treatment begins either as a standalone procedure or as part of the combined FRACULA protocol.

In the case of FRACULA

Before the treatment begins, venous blood is drawn, from which plasma rich in growth factors (PRP) is prepared using a special process.

The fractional CO2 laser creates controlled microthermal channels in the surface and deeper layers of the skin, activating natural regeneration processes and stimulating collagen production.

After the laser phase, the prepared PRP is applied to the treated area. The plasma is primarily reintroduced using a needle-free technique. Depending on the individual skin condition and treatment goal, microneedle delivery may also be used.

The aim of the combined procedure is to provide biological support for the regeneration processes initiated by the laser.

Completion of the treatment

After the laser treatment is completed, the treated area is disinfected again, then a skin-soothing product specifically developed for post-laser use is applied.

This is followed by the application of a cooling spray and SPF 50 sunscreen. If necessary, short-term cooling helps support comfort.

Duration

The full treatment protocol—including preparation, anaesthesia, laser treatment and final aftercare—usually takes 45–60 minutes.

The actual duration of the laser phase is typically 10–15 minutes, depending on the size and number of areas treated.

Important information!

The treatment is performed under local anaesthesia. A sensation of heat, burning or stinging may occur, and its intensity varies from person to person. Complete painlessness cannot be guaranteed.

Treatment parameters are always determined by our laser specialist, taking into account individual skin parameters, the treatment goal and safety protocols.

The developments in the technology—the enlarged scanner handpiece, computer-controlled precision parameterisation and simultaneous pulse delivery—allow treatment time to be reduced compared with earlier-generation devices.

The shorter treatment time is due to the characteristics of the technology and does not mean that the treatment is less thorough.

After FRACULA Treatment

Immediately after the treatment, the skin shows a natural tissue reaction.

The skin becomes red and may resemble sunburn. A burning sensation, warmth and tightness may be experienced, which typically do not require oral painkillers.

The external appearance is generally manageable, and isolation is not required when leaving the clinic.

During regeneration, the following temporary reactions may occur:

  • oedema (swelling),
  • skin tightness,
  • itching,
  • dryness,
  • peeling

These symptoms are a natural part of the healing process and may occur with varying intensity from person to person.

Regeneration time:

  • On the face, recovery time is generally 5–8 days.
  • For the neck, décolletage, backs of the hands or body treatments, regeneration may be longer, typically 10–21 days.

When the combined FRACULA protocol is used, regeneration may be 1–2 days shorter in some cases due to the biological support, although individual healing processes may vary.

After complete peeling, the pinkish redness gradually decreases and usually fades within 4–21 days.

Our laser specialist provides personalised aftercare instructions both verbally and in writing after the treatment.

Recommended at-home aftercare protocol:

  • cooling may be applied as needed during the first 24–48 hours,
  • intensive hydration and barrier protection of the skin are recommended several times a day, specifically with post-laser products,
  • SPF 50 sunscreen is mandatory for at least 4 weeks,
  • sunbathing and solarium use are not recommended for at least 4 weeks,
  • intense physical activities that cause sweating, sauna and wellness treatments should be avoided during the first week,
  • retinoids, exfoliating acids and irritating cosmetic products may generally be restarted after complete regeneration, usually after 4–6 weeks,
  • mechanical removal of peeling skin is not recommended

What our patients say

Frequently asked questions

How painful is the FRACULA treatment?

The FRACULA treatment is performed under local anaesthesia.
During the laser phase, a feeling of heat, burning, or stinging may occur, the intensity of which varies from person to person. The discomfort is generally well tolerated, however complete painlessness cannot be guaranteed.

How long does it take for the skin to heal after the treatment?

The duration of regeneration depends on the treated area and the individual healing process.
On the face, recovery time is usually 5–8 days. In the case of neck, décolletage, or body treatments, regeneration may take longer.
When the combined FRACULA protocol is used, regeneration may be 1–2 days shorter in some cases, however individual reactions may vary.
After peeling, the appearance of the skin gradually becomes more even, while collagen production continues over the following weeks.

How many sessions are needed for a visible result?

A change may be noticeable even after one treatment, however for structural improvement in skin quality, a course of 3 sessions is often recommended at 4–6-week intervals.
The required number of treatments is always determined based on individual skin condition and treatment goals.

On which areas can FRACULA therapy be performed?

The treatment can be applied on the face, neck, décolletage, backs of the hands, as well as on areas of the body where structural improvement in skin quality is indicated.
