Tummy tuck for a firm, flat abdomen
Are you bothered by a loose, stretched abdominal wall or excess skin that does not disappear with either exercise or diet? With a tummy tuck, you can achieve a firm, shapely and proportionate abdomen again, helping you regain your self-confidence and the natural harmony of your body.
The experienced plastic surgeons at Dr. Goodwin Private Clinic offer a personalised solution, whether it is excess skin after childbirth, a stretched abdomen after weight loss or separation of the abdominal muscles (rectus diastasis).
For us, your goal is not only an aesthetic appearance, but a comfortable, natural result – with precise surgical work, a safe environment and comprehensive care.
What is the treatment?
What is a tummy tuck?
A tummy tuck is a plastic surgery procedure during which excess, stretched skin and fatty tissue are removed from the abdominal area, and the abdominal wall is shaped to become firmer and flatter. The aim is to restore proportionate and natural contours – an abdomen you feel good about.
During the procedure, not only is excess skin removed, but if necessary, the abdominal muscles are also tightened, which is especially important after childbirth or significant weight loss. As a result of the surgery, your abdomen becomes firmer, your waistline more defined, and your body shape more harmonious.
A tummy tuck can help you feel confident again, move more easily and feel good in your own body – from both an aesthetic and a functional point of view.
What is an apron belly, and what causes it?
The two most common life situations that have the greatest effect on the abdomen are major weight changes involving significant weight loss and, in women, pregnancy. After either pregnancy or weight loss, loose skin may become visible. In milder cases, this affects only the area below the navel – this is where wrinkled, sagging skin may develop.
In more severe cases, however, the abdominal wall stretches so much that it hangs over the pubic area. This is known as an apron belly. An apron belly is not only aesthetically disturbing, but because skin surfaces rub against each other, more serious health problems such as skin irritation or inflammation may also develop.
In addition to health risks, it can also make everyday life more difficult: it may limit clothing choices, feel uncomfortable during exercise, and in the long term lead to self-esteem problems.
For this reason, removing an apron belly can be an important step not only aesthetically, but also from a health perspective.
Who is it recommended for?
Who is a tummy tuck recommended for?
A tummy tuck may be an ideal solution for you if you are bothered by stretched, hanging skin on your abdomen that you cannot eliminate with diet or regular exercise.
The procedure brings not only an aesthetic change, but may also improve overall comfort, posture and self-confidence.
If you feel that sagging skin limits you in everyday life – whether when dressing or during movement – a tummy tuck can help you regain a comfortable, confident version of yourself.
Who is it not recommended for?
Who is a tummy tuck not recommended for?
A tummy tuck is a serious surgical procedure, so it is important to undergo it only if you are suitable for it in terms of both health and lifestyle.
During the consultation, our plastic surgeon will inform you in detail about whether the procedure can be performed in your case and what result you can expect.
The goal is to achieve a safe, long-lasting and aesthetically harmonious final result – one you can be satisfied with in the long term.
We do not recommend a tummy tuck if:
- you are planning further weight loss, as weight changes may affect the result of the surgery,
- you would like to have a child in the near future, as pregnancy can stretch the abdominal wall and skin,
- you suffer from a serious internal medical condition that may involve increased surgical risk,
- or if you enter the procedure without realistic expectations and are not looking for a natural, proportionate result.
Before the treatment
Before a tummy tuck
A tummy tuck is always preceded by a personal consultation, where our plastic surgeon examines the condition of the abdominal wall, assesses the amount of excess skin and discusses the desired result with you.
This meeting is important so that every detail can be clarified and the surgery can take place with the greatest possible safety.
Before surgery:
- you will need to have laboratory tests,
- you will take part in a medical fitness examination,
- and it is recommended that you stop smoking, as smoking can slow wound healing.
Your surgeon will explain everything you need to know, including preparation, the expected recovery time and the course of aftercare.
It is important to arrive for surgery with a stable body weight, in good general health and with a positive attitude – this helps ensure the most beautiful, natural result.
Treatment process
How a tummy tuck is performed
A tummy tuck is performed under general anaesthesia, and the type of procedure depends on how much excess skin and fatty tissue is present in the abdominal area.
the surgeon removes the stretched skin and fatty tissue,
if necessary, strengthens or sutures the abdominal muscles together (in the case of rectus diastasis),
then the skin is repositioned tightly, and the navel may also be placed in a new position so the final result looks natural and aesthetic.
During a tummy tuck, we use precise suturing techniques so that scars are as discreet as possible and fade almost completely over time.
After surgery, you will receive special compression garments that help reduce swelling and support proper healing.
The procedure usually takes 2–3 hours, and in most cases 1–2 nights of clinical observation are recommended for complete safety.
The goal: a firm, proportionate, natural-looking abdomen that lets you stand in front of the mirror with confidence again.
After the treatment
After a tummy tuck
After a tummy tuck, you will need a few days of rest so your body can recover. In the postoperative period, a mild feeling of tightness, swelling or minor pain is completely normal and can be well managed with painkillers prescribed by your doctor.
After the procedure, you will need to wear special compression garments, which help reduce swelling and ensure that the skin adapts properly to your new shape. These garments usually need to be worn for 6 weeks, according to medical instructions.
In the first days, avoid sudden movements and strenuous physical activity, but it is important to take short, careful walks, as this supports circulation and faster healing.
Suture removal usually takes place after 2 weeks, and the final result develops over a few months, once the swelling has completely subsided and the scars gradually fade.
The result of a tummy tuck is long-lasting if you pay attention to a healthy lifestyle, stable body weight and appropriate exercise.
Your surgeons will be by your side throughout the entire healing process and will monitor your recovery during every follow-up examination.

What our patients say
Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
Mennyi ideig tart a hasplasztika műtét?
A beavatkozás általában 2–3 órát vesz igénybe, attól függően, hogy teljes vagy mini hasplasztikáról van szó, illetve szükség van-e az izmok megerősítésére is.
Altatásban történik a beavatkozás?
Igen, a hasplasztikát teljes altatásban végezzük, így a műtét közben semmilyen fájdalmat nem fogsz érezni.
Meddig kell a klinikán maradnom a műtét után?
A legtöbb esetben 1–2 éjszakás megfigyelés javasolt a biztonságos regeneráció érdekében.
Mikor térhetek vissza a munkába?
Általában 2 hét pihenés szükséges, de a teljes fizikai terhelés – például sportolás – csak 6 hét után ajánlott.
Láthatóak maradnak a hegek?
A vágás vonala a bikinivonal alá kerül, így a heg diszkréten elrejthető. Idővel fokozatosan halványodik, és egyre kevésbé lesz észrevehető.
Meddig tart a hasplasztika eredménye?
